JEN EYRING

MILITARY SPOUSE | VIRTUAL ASSISTANT/TECH SUPPORT | 500HR RYT | RESTORATIVE YOGA & ASANA TEACHER

Jen came across her first yoga practice when needing to find support after a running injury between marathon trainings in 2009.

She quickly found that practicing asana (especially Bikram and Power Yoga) was much more technically involved than she had first anticipated, and began finding empowerment through moving her body in new ways.

In 2010, Jen completed her 200hr YTT with Core Power Yoga through one of their military spouses programs where she then began teaching to Fort Carson’s units during morning PT hours. Jen was excited to see how well the yoga asana practice could fit in to the military lifestyle and began to volunteer her time teaching at the other duty stations, such as Yongsan, SEOUL Korea, and West Point, NY where she even helped asking Commanders to help teach in hopes to lower numbers of profiles for soldier injured during physical activities and PT routines.

In 2018 she completed her 300hrYTT with nOMad: always at OM with TRIBE’s co-founder, Phoebe Leona and began to find a deeper meaning to the yoga practice-beyond the mat.

She currently resides with her family in San Antonio, TX while her husband serves at For Sam Houston, TX.

JACK ERWIN

VETERAN | SCHOOL TEACHER | 200HR RYT | ASANA & BREATHWORK TEACHER

Jack is currently teaching in-person classes in the Chicago area. You can track his offerings here: https://www.stronggyms.com/group-fitness-classs-schedule/

Jack discovered the joy of yoga practice in 2009 after returning from Afghanistan. A retired Army Veteran, Jack now works as a middle school teacher who helps kids with special needs.

Jack started off as a runner, completing 5Ks, marathons, and Tough Mudders, chasing after that “runner’s high,” and adding a yoga practice to his bag of tricks on off days. Later, after divorce and a few other curveballs, he realized that he was dealing with PTSD and moral injury-desperately searching for ways to heal and find peace.

In 2014, working with Veterans groups such as the Wounded Warrior Project and Team Red, White, and Blue-Jack introduced CrossFit and Bikram “Hot Yoga” to his practice. Over time, the amazing mental, physical, and emotional benefits of yoga practice showed him the wonderful improvements for those dealing with Post Traumatic Stress or other trauma.

Jack emerged as a leader in the Veteran community, reaping the reward of helping himself to heal by helping others- finding his niche by paying it forward and continuing a life of service to others.

In 2019, Jack started his 200-hour certification with Bent Dog Yoga for the Bikram and Vinyasa styles of yoga and is interested in learning about Yin.

Jack completed his initial training in 2020, and additional professional development hours with TRIBE yoga for the military.

Most recently, Jack attended the Power Breath Workshop with Project Welcome Home Troops and started adding breathwork to his daily practice and yoga classes. It REALLY works!

Jack now serves as the Chapter Captain for Team RWB Chicago, volunteers to teach weekly vinyasa yoga classes with the PiE Project Foundation, and is now also working with TRIBE.

Jack also enjoys hunting, fishing, outdoor adventures, military history, and mostly spending time with friends and family to enjoy life.

JENNIFER OSTRANDER

VETERAN | SYSTEM ANALYST | 200HR RYT | ASANA & SUP BOARD TEACHER

Jenny teaches yoga in Flordia you can take a SUP class with her! and find out more over at her website: JENNY O YOGA

Jennifer (Jenny) was first introduced to Yoga around 1995, after attending a class at the local gym. She used yoga as a method to improved flexibility within her daily workouts. “As I attended the classes and met other people, the instructor brought intention to our classes and I began to wonder what else yoga was.”

Having served in the Army for over 25 years, Jenny was pulled in and even drawn towards high-stress positions; this was the tempo she felt accustomed to. In 2001 Jenny began to explore the more spiritual sides of yoga, and to also understand its health benefits.

Wanting to avoid any medications for anxiety and finding a new pull towards living a life beyond her normal high-stress tempo, Jenny met and worked with a instructor while in Afghanistan that introduced her to yoga-beyond the asana practice.

“As a student I have made yoga a practice, through the daily exploration of either a meditation, an asana, attending a class at the local studio, reading and watching documentaries or joining digitally and practicing with different instructors and their “flow”. It has brought balance to my life and given me the tools I need when I feel myself sliding into the dark spaces again.”

Outside of yoga Jenny spends her time outdoors on paddle boards, kayaking, diving, running, or walking trails and exploring nature. She and her husband have lived in the Keys for over 4 years now, and find ourselves enjoying the “Island Time” feeling and learning to slow it down.
